Michele Tafoya in 2026 MN Senatorial race

On Free Trade: Don't get into hypotheticals on legality of tariffs

Asked whether she thought Trump had the right to enact tariffs unilaterally or if Congress should have a say in the trade issues, Tafoya demurred. "I'd need the totality of the circumstances," she said. "I'd want to look at all the information, and so I don't want to get into hypotheticals with you on tariffs right now."

On Abortion: I'm not going to BS you; I'm a pro-choice Republican

Michele Tafoya doesn't believe that her support for abortion rights will hurt her campaign for Senate as a Republican in Minnesota. "Family is incredibly important to me," she said. "But I'm not going to BS you. I'm a pro-choice Republican. There are some of us out there."

On Civil Rights: Keep men out of women's sports and locker rooms

Get men out of women's sports. The radical social experiments on our daughters have to stop. As our Senator, Michele will protect Minnesota kids from insane ideologies and keep men out of women's sports and locker rooms.

On Crime: Will fight for tougher penalties, safer neighborhoods

Our criminal justice system is a turnstile. A majority of violent crimes go unsolved. Restore Minnesota's commonsense, tough-on-crime voice in Congress. For most Minnesotans, public safety isn't partisan. As our Senator, Michele will fight for what Minnesotans want: tougher penalties, safer neighborhoods and the rights of victims and innocent families to live in peace.

Enforce our laws, deport criminal illegal aliens and let federal, state and local law enforcement work together.

On Education: Restore parents' say in schools, increase transparency

Stronger schools and parents' rights. Minnesota's schools used to be a crown jewel. Now they've become a jobs program for grownups while students' test scores have fallen. As our Senator, Michele will fight for education reform that restores parents' say, increases transparency and accountability and reverses the decline in test scores.

On Energy & Oil: Supports all-of-the-above affordable energy

All-of-the-above affordable energy. The far left talks about "affordability," but they've spent decades at war against the sources of power that actually work. Our family budgets and national security depend on affordable, clean-burning American energy that doesn't stop when the sun sets or the wind stops blowing. As our Senator, Michele will support all U.S. energy sources so Minnesotans can see lower utility bills and gas prices while continuing to protect our environment.

On Government Reform: Protect democracy with voter ID and paper ballots

Strengthen elections. It should be easy to vote and hard to cheat. We have to show photo ID to drive a car, board an airplane or open a bank account. There is no excuse for not protecting our democracy with voter ID and paper ballots. As our Senator, Michele will fight for the SAVE Act and other commonsense steps to protect the ballot.

On Health Care: Don't hand healthcare to faceless government bureaucrats

For decades, we had one party establishment trying to hand our healthcare decisions to faceless government bureaucrats that would leave us waiting longer for worse care, and another party establishment that let faceless corporate bureaucrats deny claims and overcharge patients for insurance premiums, procedures and prescription drugs. As our Senator, Michele will fight ALL the bureaucrats, middlemen and price-gougers, cut prescription drug costs and keep power in the hands of patients.

On Immigration: Any immigrant convicted of fraud must be deported

Any immigrant who is a guest in our country and gets convicted of fraud must be deported. As our Senator, Michele will cosponsor and lead the Deporting Fraudsters Act with Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and John Cornyn. Stop treating fraud as a second-class crime. As our Senator, Michele will fight for tough new mandatory minimum sentences that put fraudsters in federal prison and keep them there.

On Immigration: Fight tooth and nail against campaign to abolish ICE

Democratic mayors, Governors and Attorneys General do not have veto power over federal law. The American people overwhelmingly agree with President Trump that our border should be secure, our laws should be enforced and criminal illegal immigrants should be deported. As our Senator, Michele will fight tooth and nail against the far left's campaign to abolish ICE and reopen America's borders.

On Jobs: Women can play a broad range of roles in the NFL universe

My hope is that women--and men--will look at Football is Female and see the broad range of roles women are playing in the NFL universe. There are so many opportunities, and they are varied. Reporting is just one. Women are now coaching and officiating! Women are in the front offices and the athletic training rooms. Just like any industry that has been male-dominated in the past, the NFL is a place where anyone can thrive.

On Principles & Values: I knew God was leading me in a certain direction

This is Michele Tafoya--I've got a quick story to share if you'll indulge me for a few moments.

So I hung up my press badge and quit my dream job so I could speak my mind. People said I was OUT OF MY MIND. But I knew God was leading me in a certain direction, and that's no time for half-measures. I knew he had a plan for my life. So I took a leap of faith and never looked back.

On Tax Reform: Make Congress spend less; borrow less; tax less

The career politicians and D.C. bureaucrats have one mission: Take away more of our money and freedom and seize more power for themselves. But no nation can tax, borrow and print its way to prosperity. The far left's tax hikes and runaway spending got us painful inflation that is still squeezing Minnesotans to this day. We need outsiders who will make Congress spend less, borrow less and tax less--and invest in American workers instead of selling them out.

On War & Peace: Be patriots about Iran war: maybe one less trip to Starbucks

Tafoya, "During past wars Americans got behind our servicemen and women, and we did little things to show our support for them. We collected metal, we recycled stuff, aluminum, so that we could help in the war effort." Tafoya continued, "I think right now, at least just kind of keeping a stiff upper lip, maybe take one less trip to Starbucks, and so that gas goes a little further, until this thing is over and these gas prices come back down again, let's just try to be patriots about this."
