On Crime: Community policing: more COPS funding

One of the most important tools in the fight against crime is involvement of all members of the community. In 1994, Congress passed landmark legislation aimed at putting 100,000 new police officers in community programs to work with local groups to fight crime. Bill Bradbury will fight to strengthen the COPS program and will work with local & national leaders to find other innovative means to combat crime.

On Education: Increase funding--don't drain to private schools

Our education dollars are already stretched to their limit. Draining resources from our public education system to fund private schools is not the solution to our education problems. We need to focus our resources, our funding, and our improvement efforts on our public education system, because every student deserves the opportunity to receive the best education possible in a public school. Bradbury will fight to keep federal education dollars in our public schools, where they belong.

On Gun Control: Safety locks; stronger background checks

Bradbury supports an individual?s right to bear arms. He believes there are other reasonable steps that we can take to ensure our safety. As a US Senator, Bradbury would support measures to encourage the use of child-safety locks, improve the mental instability review in background checks, and keep guns out of schools and churches.

On Health Care: Broaden access to coverage

One of the biggest challenges in America today is our growing number of families without access to quality, affordable health care. As a state legislator, Bradbury was a strong proponent of the Oregon Health Plan and fought hard for legislation increasing access to health care for countless Oregonians. Bradbury will continue the fight to broaden access to care for all Americans
