Barbara Radnofsky on Abortion

Reduce economic necessity for abortions

I support Roe v. Wade. We must target zero abortion by improving the social and economic conditions of women (eg. health care, prenatal care, child care and pay parity) such that no woman is economically coerced to have an abortion. We know this will lower the abortion rate.

Right to choose, but with "Target Zero" abortions

Privacy Rights. I believe in upholding the law of the land with respect to a woman's right to choose. However, we should attempt to "Target Zero" abortions, to help women improve their economic conditions, provide health, prenatal, childcare, education and employment opportunities so they are not forced to make the decision to have an abortion because of economic reasons.
