Jim Dexter on Gun Control

Voted NO on background checks at gun shows.

Require background checks on all firearm sales at gun shows.

Dexter says, "There is no "gun show loophole." All FFL-holding dealers must now perform a complete Brady checks at gun shows as it is. But private transactions are not covered by the Brady bill and need not be."

Status: Amdt Agreed to Y)50; N)50; VP decided YES

Voted NO on more penalties for gun & drug violations.

The Hatch amdt would increase mandatory penalties for the illegal transfer or use of firearms, fund additional drug case prosecutors, and require background check on purchasers at gun shows. [A YES vote supports stricter penalties].

Dexter says, "The War on Drugs is an absolute failure. Doing more of the same and expecting a different result is stupid. It is way past time to stop using drugs as an excuse for destroying our rights and liberties."

Status: Amdt Agreed to Y)48; N)47; NV)5
