Tom Menino on Foreign Policy

I stand as one with Taiwan on human rights

On Oct. 9, the Overseas Compatriot Community of Boston Held a Flag Raising Ceremony and Parade marking the Centennial Celebration of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Boston City Hall Plaza: Tom Menino & Taiwan officials attended.

The Director-General of the Taiwan Diplomatic Mission stressed that it was wonderful to see such a great turnout, especially after more than ten years since the last parade. She also said that it was encouraging to see the wonderful support of the community and patriotism by Overseas Compatriots and students from Taiwan.

Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino also addressed the gathering saying that when it comes to the fight for freedom and human rights he stands one with the Republic of China. He went on to express his pleasure in seeing so many young people turn out for the Centennial event.
