Annise Parker on Health Care

Coast2Coast RX card: Low-Cost Prescription Drugs

The new Coast2Coast RX card will be available to all Houston residents, regardless of income, age or health status. Similar programs in other cities have already saved cardholders an average of 45 percent this year. Even pets and family members living outside the city are able to take part in the program. The card will be distributed free of charge and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Houston and throughout the country. The program will come at no expense to the city and will receive a $1 donation for every prescription filled. This donation will go to the Houston Health Department Health and Human Services Foundation, a nonprofit that supports special public health and human service programs that have no other dedicated source of funding. The donation to the foundation will not increase the cost of the prescription.
