Rex Rammell on Principles & Values

Independent Challenger

Ten Principles to Govern America, based on God's inspiration

    TEN PRINCIPLES TO GOVERN AMERICA
  1. If American turns away from God she will fail.
  2. The Constitution was inspired by God. The original principles set forth within its body are true and when strictly adhered too will keep us free.
  3. The proper role of government is to protect our rights to life, liberty, and property.
  4. Rights can only be taken away or limited when they interfere with another's rights.
  5. The Federal government should do only those things which the states can not do for themselves.
  6. Never ask a larger group to do that which can be done by a smaller group.
  7. He who governs least, governs best.
  8. Capitalism advocates the principles of competition and choice in a free market setting and if allowed to operate without government interference is a proven formula for prosperity.
  9. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for life.
  10. The key to success of a free nation is a well informed electorate.

Running against Risch for killing his elk herd

Welcome to the improbable campaign of Rex Rammell, who entered the race after Lt. Gov. Jim Risch, now the front-runner, ordered game wardens to gun down his elk herd. Rammell was in the eight-way Republican primary, a race he abandoned after the party leadership lined up behind Risch.

Dr. Rammell told reporters at the time that state officials would get the "fight of their lives" and he hoped "to see Jim Risch never gets elected in this state again." One day he staged a sit-in on a fresh elk carcass that officers were trying to remove. His arrest for obstructing justice and subsequent acquittal by jury turned Rex Rammell into a household name.

His legend grew further when, in the middle of the whole episode, his daughter refused to have her picture taken with Mr. Risch after being crowned Miss Idaho USA. "I respect the office but not the man," she says now. "I think he's a weasel."

"The race is clearly a personal vendetta," Risch said.
