Mark Harris on Gun Control

More gun laws are not the answer

Q: Gun Control: Support more restrictive gun control legislation? Restrict semi-automatic weapons?

Dan McCready (D): Some. Supports comprehensive background checks & closing gun show & online loopholes. He'd rather focus on areas of consensus than divisive areas like banning assault weapons.

Mark Harris (R): No. "More gun laws are not the answer."

More restrictive gun control doesn't protect public safety

Q: More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.

A: Strongly Disagree

Outcry for gun laws is misguided & won't reduce gun violence

Q: Should the federal government address gun violence?

Mark Harris: While I think more needs to be done to prevent gun violence from a mental health perspective, the current outcry for additional legislation limiting gun ownership is a misguided attempt to reduce gun violence. History has proven that strict gun laws do not reduce illegal use of firearms and opens the door for tyranny.

Unrestricted right to bear arms, according to CC survey.

Harris opposes the CC survey question on Second Amendment

The Christian Coalition Voter Guide inferred whether candidates agree or disagree with the statement, 'Further Restrictions on the Right to Keep and Bear Arms' Christian Coalition's self-description: "Christian Voter Guide is a clearing-house for traditional, pro-family voter guides. We do not create voter guides, nor do we interview or endorse candidates."
