Rick Sikma on Homeland Security

Republican Senate Challenger

More spending on armed forces

Q: Do you support or oppose the policy: "More spending on armed forces"?

A: SUPPORT: We must be able to provide an adequate offense and defense for our country. This should also include support to those that have served through education, health-care, and re-integration services. We cannot afford to police the world. The location of US military bases abroad should be reevaluated as to their effectiveness.

The Patriot Act protects us from threat of terrorism

Q: Do you support or oppose the policy: "The Patriot Act harms civil liberties"?

A: STRONGLY OPPOSE: By whatever means necessary we need to protect our borders from the threat of terrorism. It is when we turn our backs that we will find ourselves compromised and unable to protect our children. Civil liberties won't have any meaning if that protection is restricted and the people are undefended.
