Ron Barber on Social Security

System needs modest adjustments, not privatization

The current Social Security Trust Fund is solvent well into the 2030s and Medicare until 2029. There will be a significant increase in number of Social Security and Medicare recipients as the baby boom generation retires. We will need to make modest adjustments to ensure solvency far into the future.

Ron will not support efforts to phase out Social Security and Medicare and replace them with privatized systems that won't offer firm assurances of a livable income to future retirees.
