Pramila Jayapal on Government Reform

Automatic voter registration & felon re-enfranchisement

Pramila has been a strong champion of voting rights, introducing a bill for Automatic Voter Registration and working as the lead champion in the Senate to pass the Washington Voting Rights Act. In Congress, she will fight to restore and expand the Federal Voting Rights Act, re-enfranchise the more than two million ex-felons who are African-Americans and paid their debt to society, and stop the systematic efforts to disenfranchise minority voters by requiring IDs or gerrymandering voting lines.

Overturn Citizens United; dark money stifles elections

As a longtime community organizer, Pramila believes in the power of the grassroots and the people to enact real change, but she's seen the stifling effect "dark money" has had on the ability of everyday citizens to make their voices heard.

That's why in the State Senate, Pramila spearheaded a letter to Congress, signed by all members of the Democratic caucus, calling on them to overturn Citizens United.
