Billy Tauzin III on Free Trade

Former Republican Challenger (LA-3)

Give fishermen and farmers a fair chance to compete

We have been battling unfair trade agreements - such as the recently-released Central American Free Trade Agreement that would force our family farmers to compete with cheap, unfair sugar imports from Central America. Given a fair chance to compete, I have no doubt our fishermen & farmers would succeed. However, the competition is not fair. We are battling illegal payments from foreign governments, inhumane child labor tactics, & virtually no respect for environmental standards or endangered species
