Tom Birmingham on Tax Reform

Former State Senate President; Democratic Challenger MA Governor

$500 million tax cut for all taxpayers

Birmingham pushed through the biggest tax cut ever for Massachusetts’ working families. By doubling personal exemptions, the amount of income not subject to taxation, Tom made sure that ordinary people received their fair share of the recent tax cuts. Mechanics and millionaires received the same benefit from this $500 million tax cut.

$750 tax credit for senior housing

Over 130,000 seniors who own property or rent are becoming eligible for a tax credit of up to $750 under the new law that Senate President Birmingham championed. “Seniors deserve to retire in dignity and to be able to afford to stay in the communities they help build,” Tom says.
