Bashes Bunning for supporting privatized Social Security

The Alliance for Retired Americans, a Washington based national seniors advocacy group, recently gave Senator Jim Bunning a "0" rating for his 2003 voting record on issues affecting seniors. Senator Bunning was recently named Lawmaker of the Month by the 60 Plus Association, a pro drug industry group. The 60 Plus Association advocates a privatized drug benefit and privatized Social Security, and worked against a Patient's Bill of Rights and allowing seniors to purchase cheaper drugs in Canada.

Mongiardo says, "Seniors give Senator Bunning a zero rating for failing to support measures to cut the cost of prescription drugs, while a pro-drug industry group names Senator Bunning 'Lawmaker of the Month' for opposing giving seniors access to cheaper prescription drugs from Canada."
