Working for the Senate: Increase the minimum wage

When it comes to wages and the challenges facing Idaho's working families, Jim Risch is simply out of touch and staying out of touch.

On Thursday, July 24, the federal and the Idaho minimum wage jumps 70 cents to $6.55 an hour. Don't expect Risch to celebrate this small relief for Idaho's lowest paid workers. If Risch had his way, 42,000 Idahoans would get no raise at all.

In a 2006 televised candidate forum, Risch told Idahoans he would not support ANY increase in the minimum wage--a paltry $5.15 an hour at the time. Is this a man who hears working families and middle class Idahoans? Risch claimed minimum wage jobs would disappear if employers had to pay more.

LaRocco favored raising the minimum wage and has actively campaigned alongside working Idahoans. He has had 29 jobs in his "Working for the Senate" campaign and learned firsthand what issues are important to Idaho's middle class, working families.
