Prosecute crimes done with guns; not buying guns

Enforcement sends a very strong message. The Administration has been full of pious palaver about doing more about guns. But look what they’ve done: prosecutions for crimes committed with firearms; way down. What message does that send? Felons who try to get guns, they won’t let them buy the gun, but they don’t prosecute them for trying to get the gun. So prosecutions are way down. You bring a gun to a school, and there’s only 1 chance in 1,000 you’re going to be prosecuted. What message does that send?

Key is to enforce 40,000 laws we have about guns now

“We have 40,000 laws on the books about guns. The key is to enforce what we have on the books now. Yes, we can close loopholes and I support that, such as (punishing) giving guns to minors who shouldn’t have them, making sure that if you commit a felony as a juvenile you’re never allowed to own a gun in America again.”

Supports Second Amendment rights, with limits

Forbes believes that all law-abiding American citizens have a Constitutional right to legally protect themselves, their loved ones and their property. He supports the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. He supports the national instant check system to prevent felons from purchasing guns. He supports automatic jail time for any criminal who attempts to buy a gun, and automatic jail time for anyone possessing a gun in the commission of a crime.
