The real solutions to energy issues - including the ever more ominous and pressing challenge of global warming - lie in energy efficiency and especially in the use of renewables like solar and wind energy. The US Department of Energy caters to
the needs of the oil and fossil fuel industries, while ignoring alternative solutions to energy issues. Solar and wind energy [have been given] a shamefully and scandalously low priority. [They] could help us achieve a sustainable and prosperous future.
