Gale Norton on Civil Rights

Secretary of Interior (Pres. Bush Cabinet)

Top priority to improve Native American schools

One priority concerns American Indians. President-elect Bush has said that he will leave no child behind. To accomplish that requires that we improve the schools that serve more than 50,000 Native American children. Recognizing the historic relationship of the federal government and native American tribal governments, I will work very hard to achieve results for every Indian child.
