Just say no--drug abusers lead dangerous lives

Kevin McCarthy joined parents, teachers and community leaders in urging students to "just say no" to drugs and alcohol. "People who abuse illegal drugs often lead dangerous lives filled with health problems, criminal activity and hopelessness," McCarthy said. "I believe parents and teachers must set an example for our children. Working together, we must always be vigilant in keeping drugs away from our children and our schools." Stricter penalties for drug-related crimes

Strengthen penalties and sentences for drug-related crimes.
Support .08 blood-alcohol-content limit defining drunk driving.
Increase state funding for community centers and other social agencies in areas with at-risk youth.
