Without Social Security, 1 in 4 seniors would be poor
Social Security has kept millions of elderly Americans out of poverty since it was put into place in 1935. Today -- following the Great Recession, which decimated the retirement savings of millions of Americans --
Social Security remains an especially critical lifeline for our parents and grandparents: without it, more than four in 10 Americans over 65 would be living in poverty. We cannot ask seniors with modest savings to live on even less.

Entitlements are in jeopardy of going bankrupt
Our national debt is now more than $17 trillion--and growing each day. That means our future generations are already saddled with crushing debt, and the programs that seniors count on are in jeopardy of going bankrupt
in the near future, including Social Security and other entitlement programs. But still Congress refuses to take meaningful action.
As a small businesswoman, Elise will be a strong voice for fiscal responsibility, and will curb the unthinkable government waste that exists in Washington today. She understands we must address the existing underlying problems in

Make tough decisions to reform entitlements
Tough decisions must be made to reform entitlement programs in order to address our nation's growing debt.
But those decisions must not deny current beneficiaries the support they have relied upon for their golden years.

Honor our promise, but personal retirement accounts ok
Q: Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
