Eric Fingerhut: The prescription plan is deeply flawed and to be reworked

VOINOVICH: Voinovich said seniors are already receiving discounts of 30 percent or more and the program will improve in 2006 when it is fully implemented. At that point, low-income seniors will get a $600 voucher to help with their drug needs.

FINGERHUT: Fingerhut countered that the program is "deeply flawed" and needs to be dramatically reworked. He criticized Voinovich for voting against reimportation of drugs from Canada and allowing the government to negotiate prices with drugmakers.

JD Vance: COVID: against vax passports, mask mandates

COVID-19 is undoubtedly a horrible disease that has killed many Americans. But we now know enough about COVID and have developed therapies and vaccines that should allow us to get back to normal. You shouldn't have to "show your papers" to go to a restaurant in our country, and our children--who are not at significant risk from COVID-19--should be able to go to school in person, without masks hiding the faces of their friends and teachers.

John Cranley: Open new rural health centers, focus on primary health care

Without access to affordable health care, too many Ohioans have to drive anywhere from 50 to 100 miles for basic health care, and when people change jobs they wonder what benefits will be lost. This is wrong. As governor, John will open new rural health centers with a focus on primary health care so that all Ohioans will be able to find quality and affordable care. He will also make health care benefits portable so that workers can take their insurance with them from job to job.

Morgan Harper: Healthcare a human right; extend Medicare to every citizen

Universal Healthcare. Healthcare is a human right. But our system is failing Ohioans, 1 million of whom lost their healthcare during the pandemic. Giving power back to our communities means that no one dies or goes bankrupt because of medical treatment, and everyone can afford their prescription drugs. The best way to achieve universal healthcare is by extending Medicare, a proven program, to every citizen.

Morgan Harper: Defeat COVID with universal vaccinations

End the Pandemic. In order to rebuild our communities we need to put an end to deadly outbreaks with smart public policy. That means continued direct support to the millions of people who lost jobs, housing, and small businesses because of the pandemic. And that means working to make sure we defeat the coronavirus the way we defeated polio, mumps, and measles: universal vaccinations.
