Garret Graves: Secure the border, and enforce the laws

20,000,000 people, some estimates suggest, have entered our country illegally through the southern border. In other words, we have as many illegal residents as there are legal residents living in AL, AR, LA, MS, and SC combined. Most countries in the world would disrupt into riots and crisis under similar circumstances.

Effective immigration policy in the US is not possible without secure borders. It is critical that we close the border, provide border patrol with the tools to enforce current laws, and increase our efforts to expedite deportations. We must enforce our existing immigration laws. For what is the paper that our laws are written on worth if we do not adhere to them in practice. We need to stop providing welfare and government services to those that are here illegally and fail to pay taxes in America.
