Mark Gordon: Level the playing field for oil, gas, and mineral exports

Wyoming continues to be a global leader in trona, uranium, and bentonite production. We must continue to advocate for all of these industries, including fighting for level-playing fields internationally.

Around the globe technology keeps advancing, there is progress benefitting our world by burning coal more cleanly and efficiently. Japan and Korea have built the most efficient clean burning fleets of coal fired electric generation ever.

Technologies employed there, when paired with Powder River Basin coal, can reduce the overall carbon emitted to the atmosphere. And yet, our access to these Asian markets remains restricted, tied up in permit after permit. I believe this to be an unconstitutional restraint of trade. And I will strongly advocate for access to all markets.

Matt Mead: Our state is not an island; compete in global market

Last year I visited Canada, South Korea and Taiwan to promote trade. The Tourism Office was an important part of the trip to Asia, and Wyoming companies participated in the Canada trip.

Outreach efforts have begun, and they certainly should not end. We must continue to work for increased export opportunities for Wyoming businesses and products. The Joint Appropriations Committee added $350,000 for developing international trade. I support this.

Cynthia Lummis: Fair trade agreements focus on Wyoming exports

The ability for Wyoming's small businesses to export their products is critical for our state's economic stability. Fair trade agreements are vital to the success of these trade relationships, and are helpful in opening new markets to Wyoming products. However, each trade agreement must be evaluated on its individual merits, as not all agreements are created equal. I continue to base my support or opposition to each trade agreement upon its particular effects on Wyoming's citizens and industries.
